Antoliano Peralta Romero releases book on Dominican history

Historians have praised the book ‘Después de Trujillo. Un lustro convulso 1961-1966’, written by the current Minister of Justice, Antoliano Peralta Romero. During the book's presentation in Santo Domingo, experts highlighted how the work's chronological structure facilitates the understanding of a turbulent period in Dominican history.

The book covers the era from the assassination of dictator Rafael Leónidas Trujillo on May 30, 1961, through the 1966 elections. It details significant political and social transformations, including the government of Juan Bosch, the 1963 coup d'état, the Triumvirate, the April 1965 Revolution, the United States military intervention, and the subsequent election of Joaquín Balaguer.

Participants in the presentation, including Miguel Guerrero and Miguel Reyes Sánchez, noted that the work incorporates testimonies from key figures such as Bonaparte Gautreaux Piñeyro, Rafael Chaljub Mejía, Rafael Gamundi Cordero, Milagros Ortiz Bosch, and Rafael (Fafa) Taveras. The book is described as a well-documented reconstruction of events essential for interpreting the country's modern history.
