Singapore launches AI subscription initiative for citizens

Singapore has launched the SkillsFuture AI Subscription initiative as part of its National AI Impact Programme. Under this scheme, eligible citizens who complete designated AI courses can receive a free six-month subscription to premium AI tools, including ChatGPT Plus, Google AI Pro, and Microsoft 365 Personal.

The initiative aims to develop 100,000 ‘AI bilingual’ professionals within three years. In this context, ‘AI bilingual’ refers to individuals who possess both domain-specific expertise and the ability to apply AI tools to their professional workflows. The program covers a wide range of industries, from nursing and accounting to construction.

To support this goal, the newly established Skills and Workforce Development Agency (SWDA) has opened a physical center and announced over 200 AI-related courses provided by approximately 30 training institutions. The government also intends to support up to 10,000 enterprises in adopting AI through digital leadership training and subsidies for small and medium-sized enterprises.
