Anton Lukmanto Rejects Proposal to Convert Trisakti University into State Institution

Anton Lukmanto, chairman of the board of trustees of the Trisakti Foundation, publicly opposed a plan to turn Universitas Trisakti into a state university with legal entity status. Speaking at a press conference at the foundation’s Jakarta office on 27 July 2026, he argued that the proposal contradicts the university’s founding principles and cites legal defects in the foundation’s establishment, allegedly caused by certain government officials. Lukmanto also noted that the campus buildings were not constructed by the state, reinforcing his stance that the conversion is inappropriate.

The foundation’s leadership reiterated their commitment to preserving Trisakti’s private status and its historic mission of nationalism, patriotism, professionalism, and diversity.
