Anton Neuwirth College to establish grassroots university in Slovakia
The Anton Neuwirth College is advancing plans to construct a new campus in Slovakia to establish the country’s first grassroots university. This expansion aims to house the college’s academic programs alongside its existing primary and secondary schools.
The project honors Anton Neuwirth, a physician and former political prisoner who served as the first post-war ambassador of the Slovak Republic to the Holy See. During a Mass in Bojnice commemorating the 105th anniversary of Neuwirth’s birth, Bishop Tomáš Gális emphasized the enduring relevance of the Christian values Neuwirth embodied, such as forgiveness and patience.
Currently, the college provides one- and two-year programs for university students focusing on Catholic ethics, philosophy, and art. A new secondary school named after Neuwirth is scheduled to open in Bratislava this September.
