Anton Rop announces candidacy for Ljubljana mayor

Former Prime Minister Anton Rop has announced his candidacy for the mayor of Ljubljana in the upcoming autumn local elections. Rop will run on a joint list titled ‘Lista Urške Klakočar Zupančič in Antona Ropa’, alongside former President of the National Assembly Urška Klakočar Zupančič.

Rop stated that his decision follows extensive discussions and a desire to return the city to its citizens. He emphasized a platform focused on making city management more transparent, efficient, and professional, moving away from the interests of lobbyists and developers. A key priority for his campaign will be housing policy, specifically increasing the availability of non-profit housing to address the gap between Ljubljana and similar European cities.
