Antonella Giani, commander of a clam‑fishing vessel and former president of the Organizzazione di Produttori Vongole e Molluschi di Rimini, has passed away. Legacoop Agroalimentare issued a statement of deep condolence, highlighting her role as a reference figure in Romagna’s coastal fishing sector and noting her lifelong connection to the trade as the daughter of a fisherman.

Giani was recognised for breaking gender barriers in a traditionally male‑dominated industry, advancing from a deckhand to a qualified coastal‑fishing commander. Rimini mayor Jamil Sadegholvaad and Legacoop president Cristian Maretti praised her professionalism, dedication and the impact she had on the local community.
