Antonin Baudry presents film about Charles de Gaulle in Rome
Director Antonin Baudry presented the first part of his film, “La Bataille de Gaulle,” titled “La Resistenza,” during a visit to Rome. The film provides a portrait of French General Charles de Gaulle, focusing on his leadership during the French Resistance.
The narrative begins in June 1940 following the armistice signed by Pétain. It depicts De Gaulle fleeing to London, where he clashed with Winston Churchill, to build the Free French Forces. Baudry described De Gaulle as an unconventional figure, comparing his persistence to Don Quixote for his refusal to accept France's capitulation.
While the film has earned 5 million euros in France, it is scheduled for release in Italy next year.
