Antonio Astiazarán promotes PAN-PRI alliance for Sonora

Hermosillo Mayor Antonio Astiazarán is advocating for a PAN-PRI alliance to contest the 2027 Sonora governorship elections. Astiazarán stated that broad and inclusive alliances tend to yield better results and should be based on local leadership and regional specificities rather than centralized mandates.

This proposal stands in contrast to the position of PAN national leader Jorge Romero, who has indicated that the party intends to compete alone in the upcoming electoral processes. While Astiazarán expressed respect for Romero’s stance, he emphasized that political strategies must respond to the unique logic of each state.
