Antonio Bašić makes solemn lifelong Franciscan vows in Split

Fra Antonio Bašić made his solemn lifelong vows to the Order of Friars Minor on Saturday, September 26, 2026. The ceremony took place at the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Poljud in Split, Croatia.

The mass was led by Fra Ivica Jagodić, the provincial minister of the Croatian Franciscan Province of St. Cyril and Method. The event was attended by members of the Franciscan Custody of St. Jerome – Zadar, the Croatian Franciscan Province of St. Cyril and Method, and other Franciscan provinces, alongside family, friends, and many believers.

During the homily, Fra Ivica Jagodić connected the occasion to the feast of St. Jerome, emphasizing the Franciscan calling to ‘translate the Gospel into the language of one’s own life.’ Fra Frano Delić, the guardian of the Monastery of St. Anthony on Poljud, also welcomed the attendees, noting the significance of a member of the Custody irrevocably dedicating his life to Christ.
