Antonio Banderas discusses friendship with ex-wife and return to Málaga

Actor Antonio Banderas has reflected on his enduring friendship with his ex-wife, Melanie Griffith, and his decision to return to his roots in Málaga, Spain.

Banderas stated that despite their divorce being finalized in 2015, he and Griffith remain close friends. He described her as “one of my best friends” and noted that they continue to spend time together during his visits to Los Angeles, emphasizing that their respectful separation was important for their daughter, Stella Banderas.

Regarding his personal life, Banderas revealed that he never truly felt at home in Malibu or Hollywood, viewing his time in California as a temporary stage. Following a heart attack in 2017, which he described as a turning point that led him to quit smoking, he moved back to Málaga. He currently lives there with his partner, Nicole Kimpel, and operates the Teatro del Soho, stating that returning to his hometown has made him happier and kept him connected to his roots.
