Antonio Benavente selected for 2027 Torrevieja festival monuments

The La Hoguera Molinos del Calvario commission in Torrevieja has selected artist Antonio Benavente to create the adult and children's monuments for the 2027 San Juan festivities.

Under the presidency of Nuria Martí, the commission has announced that the adult monument will stand 6 meters tall, adhering to local fire department height limits. The work will follow the theme ‘Por un puñado de euros’ (For a handful of euros), utilizing satire and criticism to address local municipal situations and current events.

Benavente, who previously designed the 2023 and 2024 monuments, is a local artist from the Vega Baja region. This selection marks the beginning of a new era for the commission following recent elections.
