Antonio Bonanno wins silver medal at CrossFit Games adaptive

Antonio Bonanno, a tetraplegic athlete based in Spezia, Italy, has won a silver medal in the adaptive category at the 2026 CrossFit Games. Bonanno, a helicopter technician, trains at Dna CrossFit in Migliarina under coach Daniel Stratta.

Bonanno’s athletic journey was significantly altered by a motorcycle accident in 2021 that resulted in an incomplete spinal cord injury. Despite facing physical challenges, such as a lack of hand grip, he has utilized his arm strength to compete at a world-class level. Following a seventh-place finish in his 2025 debut in Las Vegas, his recent performance has brought him close to the top of the category, trailing only the long-standing champion Whittaker.
