Antonio Di Pietro seeks candidacy for the CSM
Antonio Di Pietro, the former prosecutor associated with the Mani Pulite investigations, has officially submitted his candidacy for one of the ten lay seats on the High Council of the Judiciary (CSM).
While Di Pietro presented himself as an independent candidate, political maneuvering has emerged within the Italian Parliament. Fratelli d'Italia (FdI) has shown interest in supporting his candidacy, potentially due to his recent activism regarding justice referendums. This interest was signaled by Di Pietro dining with representatives from FdI and Noi Moderati.
However, this potential support faces strong opposition from Forza Italia (FI). Party members, including Stefania Craxi and Enrico Costa, have firmly rejected the idea, citing Di Pietro's historical role in using justice as a tool for political struggle.
