Antonio Garamendi to be re-elected as CEOE president

Antonio Garamendi is set to be re-elected as president of the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations (CEOE) for a third term on October 1. As the sole candidate, Garamendi will be proclaimed president during the Electoral General Assembly in Madrid without the need for a formal vote.

Garamendi has secured broad support from various regional and sectoral organizations, including CEIM in Madrid, Foment del Treball in Catalonia, and Confebask in the Basque Country. His ability to run for a third term follows a change to the CEOE statutes during his current tenure, which removed the previous two-term limit.

His upcoming mandate will involve navigating complex labor relations and economic challenges, including inflation and rising energy costs. Key issues include negotiations with the Ministry of Labor regarding minimum wage increases, working hour registries, and the development of a new interconfederal collective bargaining agreement with unions CCOO and UGT.
