Antonio Giannone Completes 4,000‑km Walk to Santiago de Compostela

Italian videomaker Antonio Giannone walked more than 4,000 kilometres over four and a half months, starting from his hometown of Scicli in Sicily and finishing at the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in north‑west Spain. He documented the journey on Instagram, sharing daily updates as he crossed Calabria, Lazio, Tuscany, Liguria, entered France and finally traversed the Pyrenees into Spain. The trek attracted thousands of followers who followed his progress and his encounters with local hospitality, weather challenges and logistical hurdles.

Giannone, 26, left his job in Modica to undertake the pilgrimage as a once‑in‑a‑lifetime adventure, carrying only a light pack, a tent and a small stove. He reached the Obradoiro square on 1 August 2026, marking the end of an epic personal challenge that combined physical endurance with social‑media storytelling.
