Antonio Grabić reaches European Boxing quarterfinals in Sofia

At the European Boxing Championships in Sofia, Croatian boxer Antonio Grabić has secured a spot in the quarterfinals of the men's 85kg category. Grabić defeated the sixth seed, Daniel Komarek of the Czech Republic, with a 5:0 score. He is scheduled to face Italy's Marvin Ghilarducci on Monday, September 21, to compete for a medal.

In contrast, Croatian boxer Petar Krešimir Knežević lost a closely contested 75kg match against Serbia's Almir Memić with a score of 2:3. The decision has sparked controversy, leading the BK Sveti Donat club to file an official complaint with the Croatian Boxing Federation to be forwarded to European Boxing. The complaint alleges “incomprehensible and biased judging” and claims the judges involved have professional ties to tournaments within Serbia, which the club argues violates the principle of neutrality.
