Antonio Kattán considers suing Honduras after case dismissal

Antonio Kattán, one of four individuals who received a definitive dismissal in a criminal case involving alleged threats against former President Manuel Zelaya, is considering legal action against the State of Honduras.

Kattán stated he is consulting with lawyers to determine if there are sufficient legal grounds to sue the state following a ruling by the Court of Appeals that ordered the definitive closure of the case. The charges had included alleged punishable preparatory acts and terrorist association.

Kattán criticized the performance of the Public Ministry, alleging an overreach of functions and claiming that the evidence used against him was illegal and illicit. He expressed concern regarding the independence of the Public Ministry, suggesting that prosecutors often act under the influence of the current government.

Another individual benefited by the dismissal, Arcadio Corrales, indicated he would also consult with legal counsel regarding potential actions against the state, though his immediate priority is returning to daily activities.
