Antonio Mingrone details drug testing used by 'ndrangheta

Antonio Mingrone, an individual under investigation for vote-buying in connection with Corigliano Rossano councilor Pietro Lucisano, has provided details regarding recruitment processes within the 'ndrangheta in the Sibaritide region.

According to intercepted conversations from June 2024, Mingrone described a rigorous observation period lasting several years. To prove reliability and suitability for criminal tasks, prospective members were reportedly required to undergo laboratory tests, including nail analysis, to ensure they did not use drugs. These tests were often conducted without warning, with individuals being taken to Rende for verification.

A judge has included these details in an anti-mafia ordinance as evidence of Mingrone's participation in the Rossanese clan. Mingrone reportedly decided to dissociate from the group in September 2024, citing fears of potential retaliation.
