Antonio Mohamed criticizes Leagues Cup final scheduling

Toluca FC manager Antonio Mohamed has criticized the Leagues Cup 2026 organization, calling the scheduling of the final “inacceptable.” The criticism stems from the decision to host both the third-place match and the championship final on the same day at the Shell Energy Stadium in Houston, Texas.

Mohamed expressed concern that the pitch will be in poor condition for the final after hosting the third-place match between Club América and Club León. He also noted the challenges of extreme weather, citing temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius, and the logistical difficulty of managing four different fanbases in one venue.

The final is set to feature Toluca against Monterrey.
