Two brothers detained in fatal Sangineto nightclub assault
Two brothers, Umberto and Domenico Orsino, have been detained in connection with the fatal assault of 34-year-old Antonio Perrotta outside the ‘Il Castello’ nightclub in Sangineto, Italy. The incident occurred during the night of August 8-9. Investigators from the Paola Prosecutor's Office allege the attack was triggered by a dispute after the brothers were asked to leave the premises for not having tickets.
The Orsino brothers, who are originally from Calabria but reside in Luxembourg, were reportedly prepared to flee the country when they were apprehended. Domenico Orsino is noted as a rugby player for the Luxembourg national team. Perrotta, a worker and father of four, died on August 10 following surgery for severe head injuries, including a skull base fracture.
While some reports suggest Perrotta may have been working in private security to supplement his income, the nightclub management has denied he was an employee and maintains that surveillance footage shows no violence occurred inside the venue or its immediate courtyard. The nightclub's license has been suspended for 15 days as the investigation continues.
