Antonio Polito discusses Italian Constitution in Rende

Journalist Antonio Polito, deputy director of Corriere della Sera, presented his book, ‘La Costituzione non è di sinistra’ (The Constitution is not of the Left), during a debate in Rende as part of the Settembre Rendese 2026 event.

During the discussion with Rende Mayor Sandro Principe, topics included the relationship between the Italian Constitution and political identity, the crisis of the center-left, and political polarization.

Mayor Principe highlighted local economic dynamics, noting that while Rende has 37,000 residents, it serves approximately 100,000 people due to the large non-resident student population and the regional industrial area. He also addressed the challenges facing qualified engineers, stating that while innovation companies are hiring, salaries often do not support living in major Italian metropolises. Additionally, Principe noted that the University of Calabria provides specialized training in artificial intelligence, though he remarked that Europe lags behind the United States and China in this sector.
