Real Madrid extends Antonio Rüdiger's contract to 2027
On 16 June 2026 Real Madrid confirmed that German centre‑back Antonio Rüdiger has signed a new contract that runs until 30 June 2027, adding one season to his deal. The 33‑year‑old joined the club on a free transfer from Chelsea in 2022 and has become a regular in the defence, contributing to recent trophies such as the 2024 Champions League, La Liga and the Spanish Cup.
He also thanked critics who had doubted him after his injuries. The renewal fits president Florentino Pérez’s plan to strengthen the back line under new manager José Mourinho, alongside recent signings such as left‑back Marc Cucurella and the anticipated arrival of Ibrahima Konaté.
At the time of the announcement Rüdiger was representing Germany at the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada, appearing as a substitute in the 7‑1 victory over Curaçao.
