Antonio Tajani calls for EU structural reforms and identity strengthening

Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has called for structural reforms within the European Union to strengthen its identity and efficiency. Speaking via video link at the Second Ventotene European Conference for Freedom and Democracy, Tajani emphasized the need to reduce the bureaucratic burden and complete the internal energy market to lower costs for European citizens, particularly in Italy.

Tajani advocated for greater courage in EU decision-making, suggesting a move away from the requirement of unanimity in voting processes. Regarding diplomatic relations with Spain, he stated there is no crisis, clarifying that recent actions were intended to defend European and Italian borders for security purposes. He noted that once conditions in Ceuta return to normal, there is a readiness to return to the previous status.
