Antonio Tajani outlines proposals for Italy's upcoming budget law

Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has outlined several proposals for the upcoming national budget law during a Confindustria conference. Key proposals include providing immediate financial relief for healthcare expenses through a cashback system or a dedicated credit card for the elderly, rather than waiting for the following year's tax deductions.

For younger workers, Tajani suggested creating a 'no tax area' for those up to 30-35 years old, increasing flexibility in using severance pay (TFR), and extending car tax exemptions to first-time owners. He also advocated for reducing IRPEF tax rates to 33% for incomes up to 60,000 euros and lowering taxes on thirteenth-month salaries.

Regarding the financial sector, Tajani emphasized a non-aggressive approach toward banks, noting their importance for business support. However, tension exists regarding potential contributions from banks and insurance companies to fund these measures. While Tajani prefers voluntary contributions, Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti indicated that the financial system may be expected to support the budget. The government is also seeking greater fiscal flexibility from the European Union to manage inflation and energy costs.
