Antonio Tajani rejects windfall tax in Italian budget planning

Italian Foreign Minister and Forza Italia Secretary Antonio Tajani has stated that the government will not implement a windfall profit tax as part of the upcoming economic budget. Speaking at a Federchimica assembly in Milan, Tajani emphasized that while the government seeks financial contributions from banks, insurance companies, and other entities to address high energy costs, these measures should not be punitive.

Tajani argued against a confrontational approach toward the banking sector, describing banks as entrepreneurs rather than enemies. He noted that while these institutions have contributed significantly, the current economic situation has been aggravated by international conflicts. He suggested that the government aims to work through collaboration rather than aggressive taxation to secure the necessary financial coverage for the national economy.
