Antonio Tajani supports banking sector contribution via dialogue

Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has expressed support for a contribution from the banking sector as part of the government's budget maneuver. Speaking at the 41st Confindustria Young meeting in Capri, Tajani emphasized that while a financial contribution is acceptable, the government must approach the banking system through dialogue rather than aggression or threats.

Tajani noted that the banking system is essential for supporting businesses and cautioned against measures that might negatively impact account holders. He highlighted the dual nature of the Italian banking system, consisting of both large banks and local territorial banks, and stressed the need for a serious, in-depth discussion with the majority and within the government to determine who should contribute.
