Italy national team: Mancini prepares squad for Nations League

Roberto Mancini is preparing his first squad selections for Italy’s upcoming Nations League matches against Belgium, Turkey, and France. The technical staff aims to integrate a mix of experienced players and emerging young talents, with reports suggesting a large roster of 32 to 33 players may be called up due to various absences.

Several young players are central to this new era. Antonio Vergara of Napoli is a key candidate and may be tested in a new tactical role as a right-sided player rather than his usual attacking midfield position. Other notable names under consideration include Alessandro Romano, who recently opted to represent Italy over Switzerland, Ali Zoma, Issa Doumbia, and Michael Kayode.

Defensive and goalkeeping selections remain under review. Monza’s Eddy Kouadio is being monitored for both the senior and Under-21 squads, while goalkeeper Elia Caprile faces potential exclusion in favor of Bologna’s Matteo Pessina. The final list is expected to be officially announced on Friday.
