Antonio Violetta solo exhibition opening at Fondazione Sabe in Ravenna

The Fondazione Sabe per l’arte in Ravenna will host ‘Pagine’, a solo exhibition by sculptor Antonio Violetta, from October 10 to January 10, 2027. Curated by Claudio Spadoni, the exhibition is supported by the MAR – Museo d’Arte della città di Ravenna and holds the patronage of the local Academy of Fine Arts and the University of Bologna’s Department of Cultural Heritage.

Violetta, a nationally and internationally recognized artist born in Crotone in 1953, has been active in Bologna since the 1970s. His work is characterized by a deep reflection on material surfaces and the interaction between the artwork and its environment. The exhibition features a selection of works from his most famous cycle, the ‘Pagine’, which consist of aniconic surfaces marked by controlled yet free gestures, including grooves, scratches, and cuts.

The show also includes two works from the ‘Lunarie’ series, which explore the boundary between materiality and immateriality. Additionally, the exhibition highlights Violetta’s historical connection to Ravenna, featuring a 1988 piece from the MAR collections and referencing his previous contributions to the city, such as the bronze work ‘Omnia vincit Amor’ and the piece ‘La giganta’.
