Antonio’s Family Restaurant in Montgomery closed its doors on Sunday, September 20, after five years of operation. The Lopez family, who owned the establishment, announced the closure to prioritize the health and well-being of owner Melissa Lopez.
Melissa Lopez was originally diagnosed with cancer six months after the restaurant opened in 2021. Although she managed to continue running the business during her initial treatment, the cancer has recently returned. The family stated they decided not to subject her to further rounds of treatment while simultaneously managing the business.
Montgomery Mayor Mike Hembury praised the restaurant, calling it a ‘beloved staple’ and a cornerstone of the village. The family expressed gratitude to their customers, noting that the community had become an integral part of their lives.
