Antonis Samaras' Possible New Party Seen as Minor Threat to New Democracy, Says Deputy PM Kostis Chatzidakis

Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Chatzidakis said that if former Prime Minister Antonis Samaras were to launch a new party, it would cause only a small damage to New Democracy and to figures such as Kyriakos Velopoulos and Fotini Latinopoulou, while inflicting greater harm on Samaras’ own political legacy. He urged unity within the ruling party, noting that “the Greeks will choose between Mitsotakis, Tsipras, Androulakis, Konstantopoulou, Velopoulos or Koutsoumbas” and that the election dilemma will not be “Mitsotakis or chaos.” Chatzidakis also highlighted the government's social package and the upcoming “Greece 2030” programme, emphasizing proposals on the economy, AI, research, family policy and national security. The comments came during a televised interview on Mega, reflecting the government's stance ahead of upcoming parliamentary elections.
