Antonis Samaras prepares launch of new political party

Former Prime Minister Antonis Samaras is intensifying preparations for the launch of his new political party in Greece. The planning process is currently focused on structuring election ballots, assigning leadership roles, and defining the party's core political program.

Samaras is actively contacting former collaborators and notable figures to staff his movement. Potential candidates for the 'Epikrateia' ballot include former Culture Minister Kostas Tzavaras and professor George Mazis. Other names being discussed include Sofia Nikolaou, Giorgos Fortsakis, and potentially current New Democracy MP Miltos Chrysomallis. The team also includes journalist Dimitris Apokis for social media management and Loukas Katsoni for regional representation.

Recent polling indicates varying levels of potential support. An MRB poll shows approximately 16.8% of respondents expressing interest in a party led by Samaras, while a Pulse poll shows roughly 13% expressing a positive inclination. Data suggests a significant portion of potential voters may come from former New Democracy supporters who are currently undecided. While the party has not yet officially announced its formation or full platform, the movement is drawing attention for its ability to attract voters from across the political spectrum, including elements from PASOK and more right-wing parties.
