Antonov An-2 aircraft restored and unveiled in Jasionka
An Antonov An-2 aircraft has been officially unveiled following a three-month restoration at the Podkarpackie Science Centre ‘Łukasiewicz’ in Jasionka, Poland. The project aimed to restore the historical machine to its former aesthetic glory to serve as an educational exhibit.
The restoration was carried out by Air Res Aviation, with technical support from Mielec Aviation Works, which provided an original propeller from Mielec. The An-2 holds significant regional importance, as over 11,000 units were produced at the WSK PZL Mielec plant in the Podkarpackie region starting in 1960.
The unveiling coincided with the ‘AN-2 Festival,’ an event designed to combine aviation history with practical education for children and adults. Regional officials noted that the aircraft serves as a tangible link to the region's industrial heritage and aims to inspire future generations of aviation enthusiasts.
