Antony chose Real Betis over Bayern Munich amid transfer interest

Antony has confirmed he chose to join Real Betis permanently over interest from Bayern Munich to honor a prior commitment to the Spanish club. The winger, who moved from Manchester United to Betis in 2025 for a reported €22 million, stated he spoke with Bayern the day before his transfer was finalized but felt a sense of “respect, affection” toward Betis.

Following his permanent move, Real Betis has reportedly rejected a £43 million bid from an unspecified non-Premier League club. The rejection means Manchester United, which holds a sell-on clause in Antony’s contract, will miss out on an immediate cash injection. Betis appears unwilling to sell the player less than a year after securing him on a five-year deal.
