Antti Karhula appointed head coach of HC Bozen for 2026‑27 season

HC Bozen (HCB Südtirol Alperia) announced that Finnish coach Antti Karhula will take over as head coach for the 2026/27 ICE Hockey League season, succeeding Doug Shedden. The 50‑year‑old, a former Oulu player, brings extensive ICEHL experience, having led Fehérvár AV19 and Olimpija Ljubljana, and previously coached in Hungary, Slovakia and Poland.

The new coaching staff will include assistant coach Fabio Armani, goaltending coach Daniel Goller and athletic trainer Daniel Peruzzo. Club managing director and sport director Dieter Knoll said Karhula was chosen for his enthusiasm for developing young talent and his deep knowledge of the league. Karhula becomes the third Finnish head coach in the club’s history, following Jari Helle and Kai Suikkanen.
