Antwerp and Limburg launch initiatives to support agricultural innovation

Agricultural sectors in Antwerp and Limburg are receiving new support to foster research and knowledge sharing.

In Antwerp, the Province and Harvestis have entered a partnership to strengthen practical horticultural research. The province will invest 100,000 euros annually to help vegetable and strawberry growers address challenges such as climate change, water scarcity, soil quality, and new pests. The goal is to translate scientific insights into economically viable solutions for daily farming operations.

In Limburg, the Province and the European Union are providing 2.685 million euros through two specific schemes. The first, Knowledge and Information (KI), allocates 685,000 euros for knowledge transfer via workshops and demonstrations. The second, Working Together for Innovation (EIP), provides 2 million euros for developing new technologies, business models, or supply chains. This funding aims to help farmers test and implement new concepts to ensure long-term profitability.
