Antwerp district adds free live music to local markets this week

Following a successful launch on July 12 at the Antiekmarkt on Sint‑Jansvliet, the Antwerp district is staging free live‑music performances at several neighbourhood markets throughout the week. Acts will play at markets in Antwerp‑North, Zurenborg, Linkeroever and Kiel from July 15 to July 17, featuring groups such as The Almost Swinging Jazz Band, Musica Mobile, The Muziekkelner (with saxophonist) and The Mystery Shoppers.

District councillor Samuel Markowitz said, "Our markets are more than places to shop; they are meeting points where residents gather and local traders serve their customers with passion. With this action we want to give visitors an extra experience and put our markets and local traders in the spotlight, strengthening the vibrant character of our neighbourhoods." The initiative aims to boost foot traffic, encourage local shopping and add a summer‑time ambience to the traditional market offering.
