Anu Malik recounts early career struggles and father's support

Music composer Anu Malik recently shared reflections on his early career struggles within the Hindi film industry. In a resurfaced clip from a conversation with lyricist Sameer, Malik described the difficulty of breaking into a field dominated by established composers such as R. D. Burman, Kalyanji–Anandji, and Laxmikant–Pyarelal.

Malik recalled the challenges of securing studio time and access to prominent singers like Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, and Kishore Kumar. He described his persistence, including waiting for hours outside studios and attempting to pitch songs to producers directly.

He noted that his drive to succeed was motivated by a desire to alleviate his father Sardar Malik's hardships. Malik recounted how, once his career stabilized, he was able to provide his father with a car and a driver to ensure his comfort.
