Anu Malik recounts Javed Akhtar writing lyrics in 30 seconds

Music composer Anu Malik recently shared an anecdote regarding the creation of the song ‘Tumse Milke Dilka Jo Haal’ from the film ‘Main Hoon Na’. During a podcast with composer Nakash Aziz, Malik recounted how lyricist Javed Akhtar wrote the lyrics in approximately 30 seconds.

Malik explained that the song was requested by director Farah Khan in a Qawwali style. According to Malik, Akhtar initially reacted with anger to the musical direction, questioning if the piece was a joke, before quickly composing the lyrics.

‘Main Hoon Na’ was Farah Khan’s directorial debut and is recognized as a significant commercial entertainer of the 2000s, featuring actors such as Shah Rukh Khan and Sushmita Sen.
