Anum Uzair Wins Pakistan’s First 100‑km Galiyat Mountain Trail Ultra Marathon
Pakistani mountaineer and endurance athlete Anum Uzair claimed victory in the inaugural 100‑kilometre Galiyat Mountain Trail Ultra Marathon, the country’s first ultra‑marathon of this distance. The race tested competitors with steep, rugged mountain trails, dense forest, unpredictable weather and the possibility of wildlife encounters, including a reported leopard sighting during training.
Uzair dedicated her win to Pakistani women, especially aspiring female runners, and said she hopes to continue representing Pakistan on the international stage. She highlighted the challenges of the event, such as lightning risk and harsh terrain, and contrasted the sport with mountaineering, noting that trail runs require less time and allow her to balance training with family responsibilities as a mother.
