Anupam Kher condemns abuse against PM Modi during election protests
Actor Anupam Kher has spoken out against the use of abusive language and personal insults during recent protests in India. The demonstrations, which target Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, stem from allegations of irregularities in electoral rolls and voter lists.
In a video message, Kher emphasized that while citizens have a democratic right to protest, criticize the government, and disagree with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decisions, the use of foul language against the Prime Minister and his mother is unacceptable. He also expressed concern regarding reports of protesters misbehaving with police personnel and insulting female officers.
Kher stated that those alleging election irregularities should present evidence and follow legal and constitutional processes rather than resorting to provocation. He noted that he chose to speak out despite the potential for public backlash, asserting his right to express his views as a citizen.
