Anupam Kher launches North American tour of Hindi play

Anupam Kher has launched a North American tour of his new Hindi musical comedy-drama, ‘Jaane Pehchaane Anjaane’. The tour commenced with a sold-out performance on September 5, 2026, at the Stafford Centre in Houston, Texas, followed by shows in Austin and Dallas.

Written and directed by Gajendra Ahire, the play explores human themes of loneliness, companionship, and emotional distance in modern relationships. The production marks the return to the stage for Swaroop Sampat after nearly twenty years. The ensemble cast also includes Meghna Malik, Maya Sharma, Vikas Rawat, Shraddha Mandale, and Herman D’Souza.

Reflecting on the opening, Kher noted the immediate emotional connection required by live theatre, stating, “There is no retake and nowhere to hide on stage.” Sampat described the experience of returning to the stage as “coming home,” noting the resonance of the story's human themes with the audience.
