Thailand PM Anutin Charnvirakul concludes official visits to Australia and New Zealand

Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has concluded an official visit to Australia and New Zealand, marking the first visit by a Thai leader to Australia in 14 years. During his time in Canberra, Anutin met with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to strengthen the Thailand–Australia Strategic Partnership. Discussions focused on trade, investment, security, clean energy, and technology. The two nations signed joint statements regarding economic engagement and combating transnational crime, while also pledging deeper cooperation within ASEAN and the Mekong subregion.

In New Zealand, the Prime Minister engaged with the local Thai community and discussed expanding bilateral cooperation in aviation, agriculture, and education. Following his return to Thailand, Anutin is scheduled to visit Nan province to inspect flood relief efforts and oversee the restoration of infrastructure in areas cut off by recent flooding.

Separately, the Prime Minister held urgent meetings with security officials following a series of coordinated attacks in Thailand's southern provinces, including Narathiwat, Pattani, and Yala. The incidents involved arson and small bombs, targeting property and disrupting rail services, though no group has officially claimed responsibility.
