Anutin demands swift action on local government exam corruption

Anutin Charnvirakul, Minister of Interior, has demanded a swift conclusion to investigations regarding corruption in local government official examinations. He set a strict deadline of September 30 to finalize disciplinary actions, stating there will be no extensions.

Anutin expressed deep frustration over the scandal, describing the corruption as an act that “cheats on top of me” and “burns our own house,” noting that it severely undermines public confidence. He emphasized that officials involved in the misconduct should not merely be transferred but must be removed from civil service if they meet the legal criteria.

The investigation has already seen significant progress, with the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) seizing approximately 380 million baht in assets from external parties involved in the scheme, including cash and gold bars. Anutin reiterated that the Ministry of Interior will continue to expand its investigation and will not fear any influence while pursuing those responsible.
