Anutin inspects Khlong Thom Center fire site
Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul visited the Khlong Thom Center following a major fire at the shopping complex. While authorities have largely controlled the blaze, hot spots remain within the site, requiring backhoes to clear paths for firefighters to reach the source and prevent reignition.
The fire affected approximately 8,000 square meters of space. Because the area contained chemicals and electrical equipment, the incident produced dense, toxic smoke. Officials have advised nearby residents to avoid the area or wear masks to prevent respiratory issues.
Anutin has instructed police to increase surveillance to prevent opportunistic theft following the incident. The government is also preparing to open registration for compensation for affected street vendors, while forensic investigators work to determine the cause of the fire.
