Anutin predicts Thailand GDP growth will exceed 2.1%

Thai Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has expressed confidence that Thailand's GDP growth for this year will surpass the current 2.1% estimate. He cited positive indicators including a 30% increase in foreign investment during the first half of the year compared to the previous year's total, export growth exceeding 20%, and rising employment and tax revenues.

Anutin has instructed the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council to re-examine the economic projections, including calculation methods and assumptions, to reflect these upward trends. He emphasized the importance of accurate GDP figures for maintaining investor confidence and managing financing costs.

To attract high-quality investment, the government aims to position Thailand as a regional hub by leveraging its logistics, infrastructure, and workforce rather than competing on low wages. The administration plans to pursue trade agreements with various markets, including the United States, Europe, the United Arab Emirates, and Central Asia.
