Anutin proposes October 27-30 for no-confidence debate
Thai Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has proposed October 27-30, 2026, as the most suitable period for the upcoming no-confidence debate under Constitution Section 151. The proposal aims to ensure that all 18 ministers targeted in the debate can be present to provide clarifications, avoiding conflicts with scheduled international commitments such as ASEAN and APEC summits, as well as a planned trip to Bhutan.
To facilitate the process, Anutin has tasked Minister in the Prime Minister's Office Paradon Prisnanantakul to negotiate with the three-party whip. The government has suggested increasing the time allocated to the opposition to ensure an efficient debate focused on substantive evidence rather than lengthy speeches.
Regarding political speculation, Anutin declined to comment on potential cabinet reshuffles or rumors of the Kla Tham Party merging with the Bhumjaithai Party, stating that such matters should only be considered after the debate and subsequent vote are completed. He emphasized that the current government operates with nearly 300 supporting votes and remains focused on its duties to the public.
