Anutin vows legal action in local government exam corruption scandal

Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, has asserted that no one will escape legal consequences regarding a corruption scandal involving local government examinations. The statement follows reports that 146 individuals, among 5,925 accused of fraud, have resigned in an attempt to avoid prosecution.

Anutin emphasized that if the offenses are proven, the legal process will proceed regardless of the resignations. He stated that the Department of Local Administration is following established regulations and that all actions must adhere to the law rather than personal preferences.

The investigation involves multiple agencies, including the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), and the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO), which is assisting in tracking financial trails. Anutin maintained that no amount of influence can alter the legal proceedings and that all involved parties will be held accountable.
