Anvisa bans unregistered weight-loss teas and capsules in Brazil

The Brazilian National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) has banned the manufacture, sale, distribution, advertising, and use of several weight-loss products due to a lack of sanitary registration. The decision, published in the Official Gazette, includes the seizure of Chá Sarapião, produced by Natural Ervas Produtos Naturais Ltda. (also known as Farmagon), which was found to be operating without proper sanitary authorization.

Additionally, Anvisa prohibited a series of capsules and teas attributed to an unknown company that claimed to mimic the effects of weight-loss medications like Mounjaro. These prohibited items include various versions of ‘Milagroso Ervas’ (such as Mounjaro Turbo, Black, Detox, and Rosa) and ‘Mounfor X Emagrecedor’.

In response to the ban, PROCON/SC has begun monitoring the market to identify and notify companies still selling these unauthorized products. Health authorities have warned consumers to avoid products promising rapid or miraculous weight loss, particularly those sold via social media or e-commerce, and to seek medical attention if they experience symptoms after consuming banned items.
