Anvisa bans Newfit and Shark Pro supplements over irregularities

Brazil’s National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) has banned the manufacture, sale, and distribution of several dietary supplements following the discovery of serious irregularities.

Laboratory analysis by Unicamp revealed that Newfit supplements were adulterated, containing undeclared substances including sibutramine (for obesity), fluoxetine (an antidepressant), and furosemide (a diuretic). The products, marketed as ‘100% natural,’ also lacked ingredients listed on their labels, such as spirulina and turmeric. Anvisa has ordered the seizure of all Newfit lots.

Additionally, Anvisa suspended all Shark Pro supplements produced by RCA Labs. An inspection in Capivari, São Paulo, identified severe manufacturing violations, including inadequate raw material storage, lack of quality control, absence of equipment maintenance records, and missing allergen information on labels.

Other regulatory actions included the seizure of Mounja Gummy by Bela Blue Beauty due to a lack of proper registration, and the seizure of a falsified lot of the medication Trodelvy.
