Anvisa bans six types of unregulated salt products in Brazil

Brazil's National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) has ordered the seizure and prohibited the sale, distribution, manufacturing, and advertising of six types of salt products. The measure targets products from the brand Quanqton, including “Quanqton Ocean Salts,” “Sal integral Quanqton,” “Sal Perfeito, New Quantic,” “Endurance,” and “Sal Marinho Integral.”

According to Anvisa, these products were manufactured by an unknown company in a clandestine manner and lack the necessary sanitary regularization. The items were being sold through various e-commerce platforms and a dedicated website in packaging sizes of 250g, 1kg, and 2kg.

The agency also identified prohibited and deceptive advertising practices. The products were marketed with false health claims, such as being a “sea salt with high magnesium concentration” designed for athletes to prevent “muscle cramps and fatigue” and provide “real cellular hydration.” Anvisa warned that selling unregulated products poses a risk to consumers as it prevents verification of essential safety, composition, and quality standards.
